Caged delights

letters from a salvaged sparrow

her golden cage

As we have shared our secrets, so we share with others. Perhaps though, there are those parts of us which are best kept caged, for they are too savage and predatory to leave admiration or ease intact.

This is my song:

Caged delights

the crimson creature of

caged delight

shall not speak its

sacrosanct self into being –

new clay in the lewd hands of

artificial light,

nor slip in splinters of sullied flesh

through the bars of

the oppressed

– it may only

without haste or echo

in the muted spaces

dusk and dawn

for succor
