The Betrayal (in green)

The Betrayal (in green)

Tread lightly, Snow Foot;
the ice is thinning
(and so is my patience) –
Fear not for what you’ve seen of me,
for the worst is yet to dawn
upon your shoulders, hunched,
you carry me over frozen lakes.

Alpine forest needles under foot;
our emerald shadows discarded
(and so is your trust) –
Hear not the cry of the wolf,
ill-omened yet brutally honest;
you’ll stumble and fall.

Polar Bear blubber devoured,
bitter green lips in cold blue
(and so is my love for you) –
smeared bile over frozen faces
unnaturally delicious, sweet,
I bite your face off.
